1. I think the previous-gen Audi R8 is best with a V8. Ain’t no shame in a high revving V8!
2. The Mustang II isn’t the craptastic Pinto-mutation it’s made out to be. It’s got everything an enthusiast desires: affordability, lightweight (almost 200lbs less than the ‘64 Mustang), an anemic V8 that is still a V8, manual transmissions, and it’s not a Mitsubishi Challenger.
3. The 288 GTO is better than the F40.
These are just some of my unusual opinions while I sit at home watching anime.

1 and 2 I agree with. 3? You have something wrong :p

1. Your opinion is just plain wrong.
2. The Mitsubishi Challenger was nearly as fast, while looking way better.
3. They are on equal ground to me. I’d rather have the F40 because it looks crazier, but I can’t fault the 288.

I like the V8 R8, but the V10 with the gated manual just seems like bliss. And blue was the perfect color for these.
The only good Mustang II want the Shelby Cobra
And the 288GTO is better than the F40, LeFerrari, and the 250GTO

I’m okay with these.

1. No, because Samoa Orange R8 GT.
2. No, but as you stated, at least it isn’t a Mitsubishi Challenger.
3. Absolutely.

Nothing wrong with a V8 at all, but the one inside a supercar needs to blow away a 5.0 stock for stock. ~430HP is well below where a six figure purpose built mid engine supercar should be.

Sorry, but the V10 is the ultimate, have you Listened to it? It’s one of the best sounding cars anywhere.

I looked up the price differences and now I regret seeing how cheap they can be.

“An anemic V8 is still a V8"
No its not. Not when you can lose to Tanner Foust on foot in a race. :P

I have heard every form of popular and modern V10 in person I think. (Gallardo, Huracan, R8 1.0, R8 2.0, Viper gens 1-4). None of them should ever have the phrase “bad sounding” related to their exhaust; I just think that with the first gen R8, the V8 noise suits it better.

1: Okay, i thought i was the only one who liked the V8 more than the V10. One of those i can dream of someday owning before its a giant POS that’s falling apart. The other one will forever be too expensive for me to own. Also possibly too much car for me.
2: This is a photo of my team last year at Lemons. I did not drive the mustang (I drove the sunbird in the background) but i’m willing to believe anything good you want to tell me about the Mustang II because secretly its awesome
3. I can’t agree with you here. Yesterday i wore an F40 T shirt. This is what I drink Coffee out of every morning. F40 for life.

Vipers are bad sounding (my opinion.) Also, you’re missing probably the two most common V10 vehicles out there! One of which sounds awful, while the other one sounds pretty damn good.

Oh that’s right! I’ve heard both the M5 and M6 with the S85, and the LFA in person as well! No other V10 will ever sound as seductive as the LFA’s, they simply will never compare, but the SLC Superlight I heard will be the first behind it for untamed sound. Now if the R8 had a V10 that sounded like the S65 or LFA....

LFA??!? LUCKY!!! i was arguing with a buddy that V10's don’t really sound THAT great the other day, but I forgot about the LFA (and the Carrera GT now that I think about it.)
Here’s the other “car” i was thinking of that you missed from your list. The one that “sounds awful” according to me:

I agree with 1 & 3, however, I also must disclose that I think the F50 is better than the 288.

Ya know what?
.....it was better than I thought it’d be.

I don’t have an opinion on the R8 or the ‘Stang, but you are totally right on the Fezzas.

I won’t argue about 1 and 2 - not my thing - but I am with Mr K-Roll regarding 3.
Maybe saying “it is better than” is a bit extreme, I admit. But the 80s GTO is much rarer; it is much more elegant; it is more streetable; and it was designed with a specific purpose (group B).
By comparison, the F40 is almost common; it is a brutish mish-mash of shapes (admittedly, dictated mostly by function, or so they said) ; it is really track-oriented, not road-oriented; and its creation arguably served almost no purpose other than being faster than the 959 in absolute terms (later they were used in competition but at the time of its launch F40 wasn’t eligible for *anything*).
Having said that, I like the F40 a bit better now. At the time it appeared I just did not get it at all. (Also, the later F50 was such a joke that it instantly made the F40 a more serious proposition.)
If you wish... the F40 is a pinup, almost a caricature of what a fast Ferrari should be, whereas the GTO is the real deal.

I have always thought that about the R8. I don’t know if it’s because of the “attainable” (lol) nature of it, or what. But yes.

Not to concerned about 1 or 3.
Want to throw my full support behind #2 though.
I always say, if Mustang II’s are so bad, why does everybody steal their front suspension to put in 60's Ford/Mercury’s? And that V8 it came with can be brought to life in a weekend with 500-750 in parts, especially if junkyard sourced.

1. ehh, ok
2. sure, but still ugly
3.
